Finally NIA at Pilates One on One
Annie offers an exciting new class of exercise - NIA
NIA is a fitness art that builds strength, agility, flexibility and grace in the body and mind, bringing about transformation on many levels beyond the physical. By following the Body's Way, people of all ages, fitness levels and exercise backgrounds learn to explore their own bodies and the ways they move. NIA is the most advanced form of fusion fitness, blending martial arts, healing arts, dance and self healing to create a high-powered, synergistic workout that will not only keep you in fantastic shape, but will also help you to rediscover the joy of movement and being at home in your body. Rich in diversity in both music and movement, NIA addresses the whole person through integration, play and sensory awareness. NIA uses the pleasure principle to seek comfort and ease in order to move, strengthen and heal the body in a natural, organic way. It is a workout that is fun, yet efficient, providing cardiovascular conditioning while inducing the feel-good sensations of dance. NIA is for anybody who needs to move.
From the 26th August 2009 Pilates One On One will be introducing a NIA (non impactive aerobics) class every Wednesday at 5:30pm.
Class sizes will be limited to a maximum of 12 people and Anni Callendar, our NIA goddess will be teaching the class as a 6 week course. Anni has structured the course as follows:
Week 1: Easing into Nia from a Pilates Perspective - moving from the core - those stabilisation muscles will help you to move with grace - "The basics steps and Stances".
Week 2: Continue the Ease: Recap the Steps & Stances, Introducing the 9 movement forms - "Healing Arts 3 of 9".
For those of you interested in joining this great class please book your space as soon as possible - first come ... first served!
If there is a high demand, another class will be introduced either an hour earlier on Wednesday or an hour later, or Thursdays at 6:30pm.
See you all at the studio.
